 How to install Carpet

Over wood substrate

  1. Make sure floor is dry and free of any material

  2. Lay tack strip tacks angling in toward wall, and cut to fit.

  3. Hold strip approximately 1/4 inch away from wall, or base

  4. Roll pad out.

  5. Staple seams first, then around the perimeter. Trim pad around perimeter on inside of strip (of course, pick up scraps before next step)

  6. Lay carpet out in room.

  7. If there are any seams, see section on seaming for what to do.

  8. Start by setting one corner (bump with knee kicker, cut, and tuck carpet in between strip and wall or base).

  9. Then, stretch carpet down length of one wall (use power stretcher), set wall, like in # 8.

  10. Then stretch the other wall (starting from set corner). Set like #8

  11. Continue stretching toward parallel corner of start point, at about a 7-10 degree angle.

  12. Move to other wall, and do the same thing.

  13. Use wall trimmer to cut carpet against the wall, or base, and tuck carpet between strip and wall, or base.

  14. Clean up scraps, and vacuum.
